Siiqo Launches Commerce Infrastructure for Nigerian SMEs on Telegram — Run Your Entire Business From a Chat App

Abuja, Nigeria — June 2026. Siiqo — a Nigerian commerce platform built around trust and hyperlocal visibility for SMEs and freelancers, launches on Telegram. Today, we are announcing the launch of our full commerce infrastructure on Telegram, making it possible, for the first time in Nigeria, for a small business to build a storefront, collect secured and protected payments, manage orders, track inventory, and run day-to-day business operations entirely from inside a chat app.

Our Telegram bot is live now at @SiiqoBot. To mark the launch, we are offering the first 100 vendors who onboard lifetime free access to the full platform — no subscription, no hidden fees.

The Story Behind the Decision

This launch didn't begin as a Telegram strategy. It began as an honest observation.

When we first set out to build Siiqo for African SMEs and freelancers, our roadmap looked like what most startups in this space build toward: a web platform first, then a native mobile app. The web platform launched. The mobile app was nearly complete. And then we stopped.

"We were almost done with the app," said Okereke Innocent Chinweokwu, Siiqo's founder. "But we kept seeing the same thing everywhere we looked. Vendors were already running their businesses inside Telegram and WhatsApp — taking orders through DMs, confirming payments manually, chasing buyers through threads with no system behind any of it. We realised the problem wasn't that they lacked an app. It was that nobody had built the infrastructure layer inside the platforms they were already living in."

The average Nigerian smartphone user has downloaded hundreds of apps over the years. Many of those apps sit unused. App fatigue is real, documented, and growing — and asking an already-stretched SME owner to download, learn, and maintain yet another standalone app is a friction point that has quietly killed the adoption of dozens of well-intentioned tools. We looked at that reality and drew a different conclusion from most: the answer wasn't a better app. It was building commerce infrastructure directly inside the chat layer where Nigerian SMEs already operate.

The result is what is now live at @SiiqoBot.

What Siiqo on Telegram Actually Does

This isn't a notification bot or a customer service chatbot. It is the first full commerce infrastructure layer built natively inside Telegram for Nigerian SMEs — and the feature set reflects that ambition.

From @SiiqoBot, a vendor can:

Build a verified branded storefront. Every seller gets a storefront live at siiqo.com/yourname — shareable from anywhere, including a Telegram bio, WhatsApp status, Instagram caption, or printed flyer. Verification happens before the store goes public, so every buyer interacting with a Siiqo storefront knows they're dealing with a confirmed, accountable seller.

Collect secured, protected payments. This is the part that separates our Telegram infrastructure from anything else currently available. Payments are secured and protected end-to-end — which means the fake alerts and doctored payment screenshots that cost Nigerian sellers billions of naira every year have no entry point into the transaction, even mid-livestream or mid-DM thread. No manual confirmation. No "have you sent it?" No screenshot that can be faked.

Manage orders in real time. Every order placed through the bot is tracked — not stored across four different apps, not living in a WhatsApp thread you have to scroll through, but organised, timestamped, and manageable from inside Telegram itself.

Track inventory automatically. Stock levels update when orders come in. The storefront shows buyers what's actually available without a vendor having to manually update it between messages.

Build a trust score. Our trust layer — one of Siiqo's core differentiators since the original platform launch — travels into Telegram. Verified sellers build a public trust score over time, giving new buyers a structural reason to transact with someone they've never met before. This is the visibility and credibility layer that most Nigerian SME tools have never addressed.

Run full business operations. Invoicing, customer records, sales data — the operational layer that keeps a business running — all accessible without ever leaving the app.

Setup takes approximately three minutes.

Why Telegram, Specifically

The decision to build on Telegram rather than defaulting to a native app is deliberate and worth explaining.

Telegram's bot API is significantly more open and developer-friendly than most alternatives, which means it allows the kind of deep, structured commerce functionality — secured payment flows, verified checkout, automated order management — that other platforms currently constrain. WhatsApp remains part of our broader platform strategy, but Telegram's infrastructure is what made it possible to build a truly full commerce layer natively inside a chat app, rather than a partial one.

Nigeria's Telegram user base is also growing faster than most of Africa's commerce infrastructure has caught up with. As we've covered separately, Nigeria's social commerce market is now valued at over $12 billion and growing — and much of that activity flows through chat apps that were never designed for structured commerce transactions. Our bet is that building the commerce layer inside those apps — rather than trying to redirect buyers to a separate platform — is how you actually capture the real opportunity.

What the Ecosystem Has Said About Siiqo

Our original platform launch drew coverage from several of Africa's leading tech publications, each recognising our positioning at the intersection of commerce infrastructure, trust, and visibility for SMEs.

Disrupt Africa noted that we had "launched a commerce and business suite for African SMEs and freelancers, helping users increase their sales and better manage their businesses," and quoted our founder directly: "Siiqo provides visibility and trust. Most importantly we are allowing users to build real identity with ease." Read the full Disrupt Africa coverage here.

We Are Tech Africa described us as "a digital commerce platform designed as a 'local commerce operating system'" and highlighted our core positioning: "Unlike traditional marketplaces, Siiqo focuses on branded storefronts. As a result, sellers can build a full digital identity rather than list isolated products." Read the full We Are Tech Africa coverage here.

The Telegram launch is the next chapter in that same story — taking the trust layer, the verified storefront, and the commerce operating system we built on the web, and moving it into the chat platforms where Nigerian commerce is already happening every day.

The Broader Bet: Leading the Category

We are explicit about what we are building toward. This is not a feature release. It is a category position.

Nigerian SMEs don't need to be taught that commerce happens on chat apps — they've known that for years. What they've never had is real infrastructure underneath that commerce: a structured way to take orders without losing them in a thread, to collect payment without worrying about a fraud alert, to build buyer trust without depending entirely on personal reputation and word-of-mouth.

Our three core pillars — trust (secured and protected transactions, seller verification, trust scores), visibility (hyperlocal discovery, verified branded storefronts, presence across web and chat), and business operations (inventory, invoicing, order management) — were built for this exact gap. The WhatsApp catalog was never designed to be a storefront. Neither was a Telegram DM thread. Our position is that social commerce in Nigeria needs real infrastructure underneath it — and that building that infrastructure natively inside the chat apps Nigerian SMEs already use is how you actually deliver it.

The Telegram launch is the clearest expression yet of that bet.

Who This Is For

Our Telegram bot is built for:

  • Vendors currently taking orders through DMs and manually confirming payments — who want trust and payment protection without changing where they operate
  • Freelancers who need a verified professional identity and secured payments without building a website
  • SME founders running operations across multiple chat apps with no central system — who want order management, inventory, and invoicing in one place
  • First-time sellers who want to build a real business from scratch, on a platform that gives them infrastructure from day one, not when they can afford a developer

The first 100 vendors to onboard through @SiiqoBot receive lifetime free access to our full premium platform.
